Hire Car Cape Town AirportHire Car Cape Town Airport for easy touring of False Bay. This enchanting area has much to recommend it. The beaches, eateries and magnificent views refresh even the weariest visitors! False Bay False Bay is the 120km expanse of coastline from Cape Point to Hangklip. Its name comes from a miscalculation made many years ago when Hangklip was mistaken for Cape Point. The False Bay shoreline is speckled with an assortment of little towns and fishing villages which lend a charming character to the area. The beaches are warm, sandy and long, ideal for a variety of activities including surfing, swimming and family events. Life is “chilled” on this side of Table Mountain, perfect for relaxing holidays. It’s a good idea to hire car Cape Town Airport and take a few days to explore this impressive coast. Muizenberg Muizenberg, the town, sits at the bottom of the Muizenberg (the mountain) itself. The town is full of delightful eateries, shops and people. The beach is known for its brightly painted changing rooms which have been the focus of innumerable photographs. It’s a well-loved and well-used beach, often used by beginner surfers and many families. There’s also a pretty coastal walk from Muizenberg to Kalk Bay which includes a number of historical buildings. Kalk Bay A few kilometres down the road you’ll find Kalk Bay, a fishing village with captivating charm. Local restaurants purchase their seafood from the fishermen when the boats come in after a morning out at sea. Kalk Bay has an artistic community which is evident in the shops with a fantastic collection of locally produced items; including art, furniture, and jewellery. The Kalk Bay Theatre is renowned for its entertainment, and the Olympia Café and Bakery are great for breakfast and delectable take-aways. Fish Hoek Fish Hoek is one of the bigger towns on the False Bay map. The town has not yet given in to developers and it has an alluring, serene atmosphere about it. The beach is one of the most popular on this coastline because of its substantial size and first-rate swimming conditions. Families love the beach because it has plenty of space for throwing Frisbees, playing beach tennis, and other family activities. The beach is regarded as one of the safest and is supervised by life guards. There’s a promenade along one side of the beach for walks and whale watching in season. Simon’s Town Simon’s Town is South Africa’s naval base and the residence of the Navy. A drive past the harbour shows a collection of curious navy ships and there’s a naval museum on the town’s “historical mile”. On the “historical mile” are more than 20 buildings over 150 years in age. The illustrious life story of the famous “Just Nuisance” (the Great Dane “Able Seaman” in the Royal Navy) is well worth learning at the naval museum. Boulders Beach Boulders Beach is the well-known home of the African (Jackass) Penguin. Visiting this beach is an exceptional event! There is a small entrance fee to pay before accessing the beach and swimming in the sea with the penguins. A walkway runs along the two main “penguin beaches” and the information centre shows a wonderful documentary on the penguins living in the Simon’s Town area. A self-drive tour of False Bay and its many attractions is an excellent holiday option. Hire Car Cape Town Airport and book your seaside retreat.
